Celebrating Culture, Connection and Legacy During NAIDOC Week
Although NAIDOC Week 2026 (5–12 July) fell during the school holidays, Jindabyne Public School marked the occasion in the final week of Term 2 with meaningful learning experiences celebrating the rich histories, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Guided by this year's theme, "The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy," students across K–6 explored the significance of culture, community and connection through a variety of engaging activities.
A highlight of the week was making and tasting traditional Johnny Cakes, with students learning about the cultural significance of sharing food, stories and traditions across generations before enjoying their creations together.
Students also came together for a special NAIDOC assembly before taking part in a Gallery Walk, where each stage showcased a decorated learning hub exploring influential Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, significant events and key milestones from the past 50 years of NAIDOC.
Through hands-on activities, music, library lessons and daily student presentations, our students developed a deeper understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and achievements.
Thank you to our staff and students for helping create such thoughtful and meaningful NAIDOC Week celebrations.

Snowy Monaro Performing Arts Festival
Jindabyne Public School students lit up the stage at the Snowy Monaro Performing Arts Festival on Thursday 4 June, delivering a joyful and energetic performance of Better When I'm Dancing.
After just five weeks of rehearsals, our talented dancers performed with confidence, enthusiasm and infectious smiles, showcasing not only their passion for dance but also the teamwork and dedication they demonstrated throughout the program.
Mrs Raine and Ms Nikora congratulated the students on their outstanding effort, praising the commitment they showed in preparing such a polished performance in a short amount of time.
The success of the performance was made possible through the support of many members of our school and wider community. A heartfelt thank you goes to Mrs Grixti for her assistance on the evening, Miss Millie from Studio 22 for generously donating costumes, resources and her time, and Mrs Findlow for her ongoing support of the program and attendance on the night.
Finally, thank you to the families and friends who came along to cheer on our students. Your encouragement helped make the evening a memorable celebration of creativity, confidence and community.
Congratulations to all of our performers on a fantastic achievement!
