ThinkTank South-East Ignites Critical Thinking in JPS Students

Online Workshop

Eleven students from Jindabyne Public School recently had the unique opportunity to participate in Consensus Education's prestigious ThinkTank program, a platform designed to nurture critical thinking skills in gifted students. This journey began with a full-day, in-person workshop held in Cooma on May 31, which was one of four such workshops conducted across South East NSW.

From these immersive in-person experiences, a select group of 100 students, including our own Charlea, Alana, and Ezekiel from Stage 3, were chosen to embark on an extended learning opportunity through an online course. The selection process considered the students' attitude, application, and active participation during the in-person workshops.
The ThinkTank program is an initiative by the Consensus Education Foundation, made possible through joint funding from the Commonwealth and the New South Wales Government.

It aims to provide high-potential and gifted students from rural and remote communities in the South-East with opportunities to collaborate, share ideas, and elevate their learning experiences.

The 10-week online course which started late in Term 2 and continues throughout Term 3, is facilitated by Consensus Education's trained staff. The course delves into real-world events, philosophy, history, and complex issues through guided discussions, quizzes, and engaging activities. The program aims to not only challenge the students but also fosters an environment of curiosity and intellectual growth.

ThinkTank represents an opportunity for our students to connect with like-minded peers, and explore the fascinating world of critical thinking. It encourages them to approach information with reason and empathy, preparing them to become informed, thoughtful, and engaged citizens of tomorrow.
