JPS student leaders

On Monday, 12 February, Jindabyne Public School hosted the 2024 Student Leaders Induction Assembly, a pivotal moment in the school's calendar where the new leadership team officially took their place. The event exemplified the school's commitment to nurturing leadership qualities in its students and fostering a strong sense of community spirit.

A highlight of the assembly was an address from Anika Bailey, the 2023 Jindabyne High School Vice-Captain and recipient of the 2024 Local Young Citizen of the Year award recipient. Anika set the tone for the day by sharing her inspiring leadership journey with the students. Her words resonated deeply, inspiring the aspiring leaders to embrace their roles with dedication and integrity.

The official induction of the 2024 Student Leadership Team began with Miss Taylor Browne, the School Sports Coordinator, outlining the responsibilities of Sports Leaders. With clarity and passion, she emphasised the importance of mentorship, teamwork, and fair play, setting the stage for the Sports Leaders to step forward.

The following students were welcome as Sports Leaders:

Townsend Isaac Doyle and Phoebe Clark
Northcote Charlea Jones and Sky Lindsay
Bogong Ryan Rowson and Jake Mawhinney (absent)
Strzelecki Nicholas Whitehead and Lilou Storey

Amidst applause the Sports Leaders were called forward to sign the Student Leaders Code of Conduct, recite the Sports Leader Pledge, and receive their badges—a tangible symbol of their commitment to excellence and sportsmanship.

Transitioning to the broader realm of student leadership, Stage 3 Assistant Principal, Ms Doyle, explained the role of Student Leaders. She highlighted the significance of leadership in empowering others, fostering a positive school environment, and driving meaningful change.

The spotlight then shifted to the students who would be leading the school community in various capacities:

Student Leaders for 2024 Shelby Barr, Echo Gibbs, Zac McRitchie and Lily Woodhall
Vice Captains for 2024 Lachlan Bell and Zara Byrnes
School Captains for 2024 Ezekiel Brooke and Marley Lewis

With pride, the newly appointed leaders stepped forward, joined by their parents or caregivers, to sign the Student Leaders Code of Conduct, recite the Student Leader Pledge, and receive their badges—a symbol of their commitment to serving as role models and advocates for positive change.

As the assembly drew to a close, Principal, Mr McAlister extended his heartfelt congratulations to the 2024 Jindabyne Public School Student Leadership Team. With anticipation and encouragement, he urged them to embrace their roles with passion and integrity, assuring them of the school's unwavering support.

In its entirety, the 2024 School Leaders Induction Assembly was a poignant celebration of leadership, unity, and community spirit. As the newly appointed leaders embark on their journey, they carry with them the hopes and aspirations of their peers, poised to inspire, empower, and make a lasting impact on the school and beyond.
